Iran executes one of Israel’s ‘most important’ spies

Iran executed a man on Monday who its judiciary’s news outlet, Mizan, described as being “one of the most important spies for Israel in Iran.”

Bahram Choubi was hanged after Iran’s judiciary found him guilty of spying for Israel with him having been accused of gaining access to sensitive information and telecommunications projects through his work at an unnamed company.

The court claimed that his position gave him high-level access to vital and governmental databases.

The report stated:

The main goal of Mossad in attracting the defendant's cooperation was to obtain the database of governmental institutions and create a breach in Iranian data centers, along with which it also pursued other secondary goals, including investigating the route of importing electronic equipment

Choubi was ultimately charged with “corruption on earth.” He was found guilty and sentenced to death.

He later appealed the decision with Iran’s Supreme Court which rejected his claim and upheld the death sentence.

Choubi was the second person this month to be executed on charges of spying for Israel after Babak Shahbazi on September 17. So far, at least 10 people have been executed for espionage in Iran since the war with Israel.
