Rami Kadi’s Blooming Universe lit up Gemmayze with delicate beads and famous faces

Lebanese fashion designers have gained global recognition for their distinctive flair for fashion.

Hollywood stars, celebrities and high society ladies from the four corners of the world have done their designs and receive the unfailing rave reviews from fashion critics.

Rami Kadi, Founder and Creative Director of Maison Rami Kadi, is an integral player in the international fashion scene, recognized on multiple occasions for his avant-gardist couture and intricate technique.

Following his acclaimed debut “Highway to Heaven” in Dubai, Art and high fashion converged once more in the Blooming Universe exhibition.

The exhibition is on view at Diana Ghandour Studio in Gemmayze, Beirut, in collaboration with Belvedere Art Space, and will run for one month.

The opening night gathered celebrities, public figures, and art enthusiasts to celebrate this merger of the arts. Lebanese star Cyrine Abdelnour was in attendance. Famous faces from fashion, media, and culture cemented the evening as a cultural accomplishment.

“I am endlessly fascinated by this grand design, intricate, delicate, beautiful, and infinite,” says Kadi.

Through fabric and threads, I give form to my admiration for the universe.

A luminous vision of the cosmos on canvas

A colorful and cosmic journey was unveiled, one that merged many shades into a feast for the eyes. Twenty-two works are featured engulfing Swarovski crystals, French knots, raffia threads, and glass beads. Galaxies of color, light and texture were intricately woven into the canvas, usurping the Maison’s Haute Couture techniques.

“Each work is the result of relentless effort and refinement. We rework every detail until it feels worthy of the universe’s beauty, our best attempt at capturing its essence,” says Kadi.

Among the highlights is The Four Seasons of Light, a four-part installation that charts the rhythm of illumination. One panel evokes the void, dark but scattered with flowers; another reveals the rise of a glowing sphere; the final two join to form a luminous circle, a meditation on birth, renewal and continuity.

The “pièce de résistance” is “The Cosmic Console”, a collaborative creation between Rami Kadi and celebrated interior designer Diana Ghandour. Part furniture, part artwork, the console comes with a glossy lacquer finish and a sculptural silhouette that seems designed to spark the imagination. Its surface shifts in color, underscoring its uniqueness, while the piece itself treads a fine line between the practical and the poetic, echoing the exhibition’s wider theme of belonging to the universe while moving beyond the limits of conventional design.

After witnessing the artistry and innovation that took shape in Blooming Universe, art and fashion aficionados can only wait in anticipation for the next expression of Rami Kadi’s delicate artistic spirit.
